Get out and about
When attending classes on campus, you can grab a coffee between lectures at The Conservatory. This is the perfect place for students to fuel up on delicious snacks and a range of hot and cold drinks. However, if our onsite café doesn’t quite tickle your fancy, then you will be spoilt for choices in the local area. From noodle bars to cheap eats to upscale restaurants you’ll never be short of tantalising choices.
Close to campus you will find Noodle Street which is great for Asian dining and bubble tea. Popo, Welcome Friends, and New Beijing are great choices for Chinese food. If you’re looking for an easier bite to eat, you can visit your favourite fast food joints after a short bus ride to Mile End. There are all the regulars including Subway, Nando’s, KFC, and many more. Or, if you want to support a small business, our city is home to plenty of independent eateries that'll satisfy your appetite; many of which offer Halal, Kosher, vegetarian, and vegan options.
Sprinkled around the area you will find a Tesco and Lidl, a good place to stock up on snacks to keep you going throughout the day.
At Chrisp Street Market, you’ll discover a Victoria-era shopping district hosting food from all around the world under one roof. Whether it’s Chinese or Indian food, you’ll never be short of options to choose from. Around the corner, you’ll find a staff favourite, Maureen’s Pie and Mash, selling traditional English dishes. On the last Friday of every month, you can look forward to “Bite” –a monthly street food market with enough savoury and sweet snacks to stimulate your taste buds.
The University of Cumbria's London campus is around the corner from Canary Wharf, a cosmopolitan business district with plenty of shops, restaurants, and entertainment – a perfect place to socialise with friends after a day of work or study. ROKA, Iberica, Obica Mozzarella Bar, Browns, and All Bar One are just a few of the delectable places a short ride away from our campus. Or, if you’re looking for good old traditional English pubs we recommend the Manor Arms, The Star of the East, and Callaghann's just to name a few.
And, as if that’s not enough, you can be in Shoreditch or Central London in under forty minutes.
