The student data relates to those students who regularly attend the university at one of our campuses, it does not include the significant number of students who study with the university but do not regularly attend on-campus.  There are approximately 5500 students who regularly attend the university on-campus.  The university has just under 1000 staff, a proportion of whom are currently working from home.  The staff data includes all cases of Covid19 reported to the university across the staffing base, whether or not they are regularly on campus at the current time.

How are we responding to positive Covid-19 cases on campus?

The university is responding to reported cases of Covid-19 in line with our approved Outbreak Management Plan. This includes notifying other staff and students using our own tracing procedure as well as the NHS track and trace processes. At all times we are following national government guidelines as well as following advice from our local public health teams to make sure we manage the wellbeing and safety of students and staff as best as we can and reduce any further spread of the virus.

We recognise that we are in a global pandemic and as such all students and staff are required to inform us if they test positive for Covid-19 so we can ensure the safety of others on our campuses and in our accommodation. We have an online reporting system in place to facilitate this. Anyone who tests positive, along with any close contacts, must self-isolate in line with national guidance.

We strongly support the requirement for all staff and students to follow the government’s ‘Hands, Face, Space’ advice and adhere to social distancing and safety messages to help reduce the spread of Covid-19.

We are continuing to encourage people to follow the government’s ‘Hands, Face, Space’ advice and adhere to social distancing and safety messages to help reduce the spread of Covid-19.

How are we supporting students who are self-isolating?

Our Student Services Team is in regular contact with students who are experiencing Covid-19 symptoms, have tested positive or are self-isolating to provide advice, practical help and wellbeing support. All students have access to this support to help take care of their mental health and wellbeing. For more information please see our student services pages
