Event Overview

If you love the outdoors and you are passionate about helping others become the best person they can be, to be confident in who they are and the contribution they are making to society, the environment and the planet, the Outdoor and Experiential Learning programme is for you.

The University of Cumbria in London is the only capital city university offering a degree in Outdoor and Experiential Learning in the heart of the East End. Come along to an interactive opening where you’ll network, explore course modules and go on a walking tour of the outdoors environment, delivered by the course leader of the London Campus degree: Jamie Mcphie.

Event Information


5pm: Registration: Register early, enjoy our free refreshments and get acquainted with your potential future classmates.

5:30pm: Welcome and course overview: Enjoy an informal introduction to the place-responsive nature of the course whilst getting a feel for the topics and experiential manner in which the modules will be run. Discover what we look for in a personal statement and get an overview of how postgraduate loans from Student Finance England work.

6pm – 7pm:  Walking tour and Q&A: Take a stroll around the University of Cumbria London campus environment where we will open up and encourage vital discourses on contemporary social and environmental issues.  Please come prepared with sturdy shoes and any questions you might have.

Social Distancing Measures

Due to social distancing measures, attendance is limited to 22 attendees. Please ensure you take a Covid-19 lateral flow test before attending the event and

We will have hand sanitiser stations situated on-campus, though you may want to bring your own. Please do bring along a face covering to wear when entering buildings, unless you are medically exempt from wearing one.

We ask that you use your own judgement in terms of safety that if you're feeling unwell or showing symptoms of COVID-19 you follow government guidance and don't attend. If this happens we can arrange for our course leader to give you a call back for more information.
