Event Overview

Fingerprints remain one of the most important and associated evidence types with criminal forensic investigations. Unlike most other evidence types, an individual's fingerprints are unique to them - even identical twins who share the same DNA will have different fingerprints. As forensic scientists, we have a multitude of different techniques and approaches available to us for the enhancement of fingerprints depending on the substrate and scenario presented to us.

Working with Dr. Rory Simmons, this masterclass will give you some hands-on experience selecting and applying a variety of fingerprint enhancement techniques in the lab.

This session will last around 2 hours, and will take place in one of our forensic science labs on our Fusehill St campus. For accessibility information, please contact outreach@cumbria.ac.uk.
