In Cold Blood? An Exploration of the Psychology of Violent Behaviour
Explore the psychology of violent behaviour using case studies of serial murder, violence crime, and domestic abuse.
10 Nov 2021 - 10 Nov 2021
In this masterclass session, you will explore the psychology of violent behaviour using case studies of serial murder, violence crime, and domestic abuse. You will discuss and consider how psychological theory and research can help us understand why people commit violent crime, how it impacts on victims of crime, and how we can use research to try and tackle this serious social issue.
Using historical case studies alongside current research, we will challenge your views of what makes a person 'good' or 'bad', explore the theories of aggression and their limitations, and discuss misconceptions about violent crime, giving you the chance to examine your own misconceptions and biases.
This session will last around 60 minutes, with plenty of time for audience questions.
