Youth Crime Prevention Through Sports

Youth crime represents a damaging cost to society: not just to the young people themselves, with lives blighted for their future prospects, but also to communities and the economy as a whole.

13 Jun 2022 - 13 Jun 2022

A group of young people take part in a Boxercise class in a sports hall.

Event Overview

Youth crime represents a damaging cost to society: not just to the young people themselves, with lives blighted for their future prospects, but also to communities and the economy as a whole.

Research suggests both sport and arts can help turn problem youths' lives around and promote a pathway to a brighter future for youngsters 'at risk' of criminal behaviour.

This workshop examines the causes of youth delinquency, the ways sport can help, and how problematic it can be to evaluate whether sport interventions actually work.

This session will last around 60 minutes, with plenty of time for audience questions.
