The DLN was set up in 2018 as a strand of the important and influential work undertaken by the Learning, Education and Development (LED) research centre. 

The aim of the Digital Learning Network is to link up academic and academic-related staff for sharing of practice and critical discussion about the use of technology to enhance learning with a focus on developing research-informed practice and will aim to influence policy and practice across the institution and beyond. 

The precise focus of discussion will be shaped by participants, but it is likely to include sharing and evaluating pedagogical research and innovative technology-enhanced teaching across the full range of subject disciplines and professional fields. We also hope to address the dark side of technology - the barriers and challenges, online behaviour, the ethics of student and academic surveillance, security, privacy, and online identity issues. 

Strategically the DLN plays an important role in the University's direction towards digital learning and it aims to take forward theme 4 of the Learning, Teaching and Assessment Strategy (2017-2022) ‘Developing Digital Capabilities of Students & Staff’ and to contribute actively to our Research Strategy. The overarching purpose is to consider how technology (existing technology within the university) and digital pedagogy can be used to develop critical and capable learners – with the required skills of adaptability, flexibility, responsiveness needed for a fluid and dynamic world.

We usually meet every six weeks.
