Natalie, from Newcastle-under-Lyme, previously attended college for two years studying a BTEC before applying for her degree.

She says, “I wanted to enhance my future career opportunities and this is something I have always wanted to do.” She chose to study with the University of Cumbria because “I liked the campus; its small, friendly and peaceful and the staff are lovely too.”

She adds, “I would definitely recommend this course - it has opened my eyes to many different careers after university and has made me look at things in a different way. I have enjoyed making friends, joining societies and groups, completing volunteering and extra courses, being independent, cooking for myself and generally embracing the whole university experience."

“Whilst on my course we had to complete a 35-hour placement which you arrange yourself to help you gain the skills required for finding a job in the future.  We also had a trip to a childhood museum to help us with one of our modules; this was a very useful experience and helped us link things we had been studying in lessons.

“Coming to university has helped me to gain more confidence and encouraged me to be more independent. I am proud of how far I have come, and how my confidence has grown.”
