Biography

Rachel has established a multi-functional university-wide service for funding and contracts management (the Funding & Contracts Unit). This involves leading and managing teams responsible for the financial and operational support of externally funded projects, to ensure successful delivery in accordance with legal, financial and contractual requirements. This work supports the strategic development of income generation for the university.

Rachel supports all areas of research, enterprise and business development, including fundraising and student enterprise. She also offers recognised experience, expertise and specialist knowledge on existing and potential related income streams, project management and business development.  She has worked in various managerial, project and financial roles within the university as well as other public and private sector organisations in Cumbria and London.

The Enterprise & Business Development Service is involved in activity across the University supporting academic development and innovation.  This includes bidding for external funds or commercial development opportunities, facilitating engagement with employers through events and networks, enabling knowledge transfer and promoting UoC learning programmes and CPD courses.  We lead on fundraising initiatives, student enterprise support and work with academic departments and research centres to increase opportunities for commissioned research in addition to ensuring financial and contractual compliance.
