Biography

Charles’s industrial experience is in IT and he has experience of IT projects in multiple areas of industry including process control, application development, business process re-engineering, and agile development.  Charles’ final role before joining academia was leading a Project Office that had project, programme and portfolio responsibilities, developing the team from supporting projects to delivering portfolio planning to assist organisation decision making.

This experience has enabled Charles to develop a deep understanding of the role that Projects play in organisational success, and also the challenges faced when balancing the demands of multiple projects alongside business as usual activities.

Charles is a Principal Lecturer for Project Management and Industrial Skills, and his remit includes the strategic development of the project management portfolio of courses, working with employers to identify and develop new areas of provision to enable them to succeed in the delivery of their projects.

Charles has over 25 years’ experience in Education and has developed many industry-facing courses. He specializes in interpreting the requirements of organisations and translating these into coherent programme structures.  He aims to develop graduates, who are able to make a positive contribution to their employers from an early stage in their career.
