Biography

Edward is a leading authority in event health and safety.  His expertise is in the design development testing and delivery for the highest profile of events including Heads of State, Football Home coming Parades for LFC since 2001, FIFA World Cup 2022, F1 Grand Prix, and Eurovision in Rotterdam and Liverpool

Live concert work includes Brighton Pride, Cream On the Waterfront, Highest Point Slam Dunk UK Live Lets Rock, and specialist support for sports broadcasters

Other work includes operating systems for super clubs in Manchester & Liverpool. This includes management systems, risk assessment, viral safe workspaces, site appraisals & design, and licensing, security and safety systems, at both strategic and operational levels.


Qualified as a Chartered Safety & Health Practitioner specialising in Event Safety and events. 

Edward is a Professor of Professional Practice for Events Management, as well as trained as an Expert Witness to the Hight Court in events management.


Edward worked with the UK Event Industry Forum and HSE in 2011-14 on producing the new Purple Guide (Event Safety Guide).  He still advises the EIF and is a member of the IOSH Sports Grounds & Events Committee


As a leading authority in leisure health & safety his experience includes designing developing and delivering music events, road race events, greenfield and city events. His expertise includes risk assessment, site appraisals and design for crowd management and entertainment licensing, as well as the design strategic and operational management of events, security, and crowd safety systems.


2012 as Safety Consultant to LOCOG designed, developed & delivered the strategy and daily operations for Last Mile and Park Operations (Zone Ex) moving up to 1,000,000 persons per day – forward and return.


As the Major Events Manager for Capital of Culture Liverpool, he designed the operational and systems planning to include safe crowd management and business continuity for Liverpool 2008 programme.    Over 4 million participating in a range of arts and culture events. The programme involved co-ordination and management of over 500 different contractors.
