Biography

I completed a BSc in Mathematics with Statistics in 1995, then trained as a Secondary Mathematics Teacher. After a range of roles in Secondary Schools I came to what is now the University of Cumbria in 2004 where I gained my PGc in Teaching and Learning in Higher Education and my MA in Education.

In my role as Co-Head of the Institute, my remit covers portfolio areas such as ITE Secondary and off-campus provision as well as external aspects of the portfolio such as partnership, research and enterprise. This involves working in close synergy with Co-Head Ruth Harrison-Palmer. Together we have responsibility for the strategic direction and business planning of Institute of Education. The department has a wide portfolio but is primarily focused on teacher education.
