Biography

Kay Sambell is well-known nationally and internationally for her contributions to the Assessment for learning (AfL) movement in Higher Education. She has spearheaded a range of pragmatic innovations, research projects, publications and initiatives focused on improving university students' learning via their active involvement in educational assessment and feedback processes. A UK National Teaching Fellow award-holder (2002) and a Principal Fellow (HEA), Kay is a regular keynote speaker and workshop leader on learning, teaching and assessment matters.

As Visiting Professor at the University of Cumbria she helped to establish and support the series of international Assessment in Higher Education (AHE) conferences associated with the vibrant AHE network https://ahenetwork.org which leads the development of assessment for learning.
