Module content includes: anatomy and physiology relating to the child; developmental milestones; recognition of the sick child; management of the sick child; physiology of normal labour; recognition of obstetric complications, obstetric emergency; communication and interpersonal skills; family support; referral, multidisciplinary team working.

  • Formative assessment: Practical skills assessment with oral exposition (1 hour)
  • Summative assessment: 3,500 word written assignment

The 20 credit module runs online via the Virtual Learning Environment (VLE), Blackboard over a period of 12 weeks.
