Guaranteed accommodation

We're offering our new students starting in September 2017 a guaranteed place at University of Cumbria owned or partnered accommodation.

Terms and conditions

Biomedical Sciences Bursary

Students who apply for BSc (Hons) Biomedical Sciences or BSc (Hons) Biomedical Sciences (with integrated foundation year) between 1 July and 30 September 2017 will receive a £500 bursary. 

Terms and conditions

  • Students must be fully registered and enrolled at the University of Cumbria on 15 October 2017 and remain on programme until 8th January 2018.
  • If payment is made, and the student leaves the programme before 8 January 2018, the payment is repayable.
  • Students registered and studying at the University of Cumbria in 2016/17 will not be eligible.
  • Students must be eligible student for the provision of UK student support and be responsible for the payment of their own tuition fees.
  • Students must not be in receipt of any other bursary (other than a Cumbria Bursary) from the University of Cumbria during the 2017/18 academic year.
  • Payment will be made after 15 October to a nominated UK bank account by Friday 3 November.

Business Bursary

Students who apply for one of the following Business courses between 17 August and 30 September 2017 will receive a £500 University of Cumbria Kickstart bursary.

  • The Cumbria Kickstart Bursary is applicable to anyone applying for an eligible programme, between 17 August and 30 September 2017, and who meet the criteria below.
  • Students must be fully registered and enrolled at the University of Cumbria on 15 October 2017 and remain on programme until 8th January 2018.
  • If payment is made, and the student leaves the programme before 8 January 2018, the payment is repayable.
  • Students registered and studying at the University of Cumbria in 2016/17 will not be eligible.
  • Students must be eligible for the provision of UK student support and be responsible for the payment of their own tuition fees.
  • Students must not be in receipt of any other bursary (other than a Cumbria Bursary) from the University of Cumbria during the 2017/18 academic year.
  • One payment of £500 will be made once and will be made after 15 October to a nominated UK bank account by Friday 3 November.

Conservation, Forestry and Geography

All students who enrol on our Conservation or Forestry courses in 2017 will receive a complimentary First Aid Upskill course.

  • Students must have firmly accepted a place on one of the above full time programmes at the University of Cumbria for September 2017 entry.
  • Students must be fully registered and enrolled at the University of Cumbria on 15 October and remain on programme as at 8th January 2018.
  • Students registered and studying at the University of Cumbria in 2016/17 will not be eligible.
  • Students must be eligible student for the provision of UK student support and be responsible for the payment of their own tuition fees.

Law Bursary

Students who apply for LLB Law or LLB Law (with integrated foundation year) between 17 August and 30 September 2017 will receive a £500 University of Cumbria Kickstart bursary.

Learning Disabilities Nursing Bursary

If you wish to study Learning Disabilities Nursing, you will receive:

  • a £500 bursary**
  • a free Continuing Professional Development (CPD) course of your choice from a specified list

We’ll also cover the costs of your:

  • Uniform
  • DBS check*
  • Occupational Health check

This is in addition to any government support agreed. Government funding for travel to placements is available, see eligibility here.

If you have an offer from us to study one of our undergraduate Nursing degree courses, and accept it by 30th September, you will be guaranteed campus accommodation.

Terms and conditions

  • Recipients of the Learning Disabilities Nursing bursary are entitled to £500 and a free Continuing Professional Development (CPD) course from a specified list.
  • Students must have firmly accepted a place on BSc (Hons) Learning Disabilities Nursing at the University of Cumbria for September 2017 entry.
  • Students must be fully registered and enrolled at the University of Cumbria on 15 October and remain on programme as at 8th January 2018.
  • If payment is made and the student leaves the programme before 8 January 2018, the payment is repayable.
  • Students registered and studying at the University of Cumbria in 2016/17 will not be eligible.
  • Students must be eligible student for the provision of UK student support and be responsible for the payment of their own tuition fees.
  • Students must not be in receipt of any other bursary from the University of Cumbria during the 2017/18 academic year, other than the NHS package already offered.
  • Payment will be made after 15 October 2017 to a nominated UK bank account by Friday 3 November
  • Students registering as above will be eligible for a complimentary CPD module from a specified range by end of study.

NHS

If you enrol onto an undergraduate NHS programme in 2017, we’ll cover the following costs:

  • Uniform
  • DBS check**
  • Occupational Health check

This is in addition to any government support agreed. Government funding for travel to placement is available, see eligibility here.

Adult, Children and Mental Health Nursing Support

If you enrol onto our BSc (Hons) Adult Nursing, BSc (Hons) Children's Nursing or BSc (Hons) Mental Health Nursing programmes in 2017, we’ll cover the costs of your:

  • Uniform
  • DBS check*
  • Occupational Health check

This is in addition to any government support agreed. Government funding for travel to placements is available - see eligibility here.

If you accept your offer by 30th September, you will also be guaranteed accommodation at university owned or partnered accommodation in Lancaster and Carlisle.

Psychology Bursary

Students who apply for one of the following Psychology courses between 17 August and 30 September 2017 will receive a £500 University of Cumbria Kickstart bursary.

Social Work and Social Care Bursary

All students on eligible Social Work and Social Care courses will receive a £500 bursary if they apply between 1 July and 30 September 2017.

Sport Bursary

Students who apply for one of the following Sport courses between 17 August and 30 September 2017 will receive a £500 University of Cumbria Kickstart bursary.

Teaching and Learning Bursary

Students who apply for BA (Hons) Teaching and Learning between 1 July and 30 September 2017 will receive a £1,000 off their accommodation fees. 

Terms and conditions

  • Students must be fully registered and enrolled at the University of Cumbria on 15 October 2017 and remain on programme as at 8th January 2018.
  • The accommodation fees will be reduced by £500 in Semester 1 and a further £500 in Semester 2.
  • Students registered and studying at the University of Cumbria in 2016/17 will not be eligible.
  • Students must not be in receipt of any other bursary (other than a Cumbria Bursary) from the University of Cumbria during the 2017/18 academic year.
