The Turing Scheme

The UK's Global Study and Work Abroad Programme

The Turing Scheme is the UK’s global programme to study and work abroad as a students. It was launched in 2021 to replace the Erasmus+ programme, which the UK has left following its departure from the EU.

Supporting the government’s Global Britain objectives, the Turing Scheme unlocks the opportunity for UK organisations to offer life-changing experiences across the world by providing funding to study or gain work experience abroad for the 2022-23 academic year.

This funding allows the University of Cumbria to provide our students with the chance to develop new skills, gain vital international experience and boost your employability. You can also develop a wide range of soft skills, language skills and a better understanding of other cultures.

What does the Scheme offer me?

The Turing Scheme provides universities with funding to offer grants to students to carry out an approved study or work placement anywhere in the world*.

The University of Cumbria has received Turing Scheme funding that can be offered to students who wish to undertake a study or work placement at one of our partner institutions

Your international study or work placement must last for a minimum of four weeks and a maximum of 12 months. It can be a part of your degree or a co-curricular activity (for example a summer school, internship or volunteering).

If you have special educational needs and/or a disability the Turing Scheme provides additional funding. There is also additional funding for disadvantaged students (eligibility criteria for this is set by the UK government).
