Getting into English Literature

Getting into Illustration

You see the work of illustrators everywhere! It adorns the books you remember from childhood. It’s your favourite graphic novel or comic. It’s on the covers of books and in the pages of magazines and newspapers. It’s not just static either, as today many illustrators work as animators in film and TV. It’s an exciting, rewarding and continually evolving profession.

Tony Peart, Senior Lecturer in Illustration and Graphic Design at the University of Cumbria, will explain what illustration can be, where the profession is heading and the amazing careers our Illustration graduates go on to achieve.

Getting into Graphic Design

We live in a world full of Graphic Design! It is the most visible and utilised of all the design disciplines. Graphic Designers create the look of huge companies, design film and TV title sequences, and even create the typefaces on your computer and the emojis on your phone. They define the look of books, magazines and newspapers, create websites and aps and are responsible for the packaging of the products you buy in shops and supermarkets. If there’s something that needs to be communicated, marketed or promoted a Graphic Designer will be involved.

Tony Peart, Senior Lecturer in Graphic Design and Illustration at the University of Cumbria will explain what Graphic Design is, where the profession is heading and the amazing careers our Graphic Design graduates go on to achieve.
