This is an exciting programme of study which, on successful completion, allows students to seek to have their qualification recorded by the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) and to practise as an Independent Nurse Prescriber (V300).

This module aims to enable you to develop their knowledge skills and critical understanding of perinatal mental health, including the impact of perinatal mental illness and the implications of this for the wellbeing of women and families.

Advocating and educating for quality improvement (A-EQUIP) is the new model and framework of midwifery supervision.  The Professional Midwifery Advocate is a fundamental leadership and advocacy role designed to deploy the A-EQUIP model.

This module equips you with the knowledge and skills to undertake examination of the newborn/ 6-8 week examination. It also includes the Qualificatory Practice Unit HMFG9001 Examination of the Newborn which enables you to develop specific skills in examination of the newborn. You will need to demonstrate that you are competent in your final assessment in the specified skills.

This module aims to enable students to critically explore the potential for promoting and facilitating normal birth from a variety of perspectives and in a range of contexts.
