The workshop

Are you new to teacher education? Would you like the opportunity to network with others in a similar situation to yourself? Do you want to consider the pedagogy of teacher education? Are you anxious about research? This workshop is designed for lecturers in teacher education and other teacher educators who have moved from teaching roles to teacher education fairly recently, probably within the last three years.

The workshop provides a challenging perspective on the pedagogy of teacher education and on the place of scholarship and research in the role of teacher educators. It aims to provide a supportive environment for sharing experiences and for considering useful strategies and resources for building practice and identity as a teacher educator.

The workshop is aimed at teacher educators who are training teachers for early years, primary, secondary and post compulsory phases. They may be working in university departments, in further education colleges or in school or employer based teacher training units.

The workshop complements two online publications:

Becoming a teacher educator: guidelines for induction – published by the HE Academy.

Being a school-based teacher educator: developing pedagogy and identity in facilitating work-based higher education in a professional field – published in the open access Practitioner Research in Higher Education journal.

Team of presenters:

  • Dr Pete Boyd, University of Cumbria
  • Kim Harris, University of Worcester
  • Dr Elizabeth White, University of Hertfordshire

The cost of the seminar is £140
Note: This is for the becoming a teacher educator event ONLY.
