University of Cumbria lecturer invited to advise the Japanese prison service

At the end of last year Dr Alison Spurgeon-Dickson, senior lecturer in applied psychology at the University of Cumbria, was invited to Japan to address the Japanese Prison Society seminar series. The request for Alison’s input came from Professor Kanazawa, who is known for his extensive research into the prison environment, and is head of the Japan Prison Society.

University of Cumbria Road Runner sets his sights on winning the Lakesman 2017

Ben Hale, 31, from Wigton, is participating in this year’s Lakesman triathlon, representing the University of Cumbria. He will have to swim 2.4 miles in Derwent Water, cycle 112 miles on mainly flat roads from Keswick, out to the coast and back and, finally, run a full marathon, 26.2 miles, around a course in Crow Park, Keswick.
