An action adventure horror film written and directed by a graduate from the University of Cumbria is being featured on Amazon Prime.
Work on Sam Fountayne’s production ‘Zombies Have Fallen’ began in early 2013 with a budget of just £500.
“Midway through its production, Green Apple Entertainment contacted me through my YouTube channel and said they were interested in distributing my film to an international market," Sam recalls. “I had never received an opportunity like this before, so I leapt at the chance and said yes!"
The story focuses on a young woman who, possessed by supernatural powers, predicts an apocalypse. Aided by a retired bounty hunter, she attempts to escape from evil powers who try and harness her unique skills.
The film was made with the help of film and television students during Sam’s time at the University of Cumbria in Carlisle.
“It’s so rewarding to see former students making it quickly after graduating,” Michael Mitchell, Principal Lecturer, Media Arts says. ”The whole media arts team are very proud that Sam’s achieving recognition and we’re honoured to have had the opportunity to help launch his career.”
Sam is ambitious and hopes exposure on Amazon will be the springboard to more success:
“Knowing that I have a full length feature film on Amazon Prime is a great achievement and it makes those three years of hard work very fulfilling. I hope it opens up more opportunities for me in the future to work in the Film and TV industry as a Director and Director of Photography.”
