The University of Cumbria are delighted to be hosting their first ever Enterprise Educators Conference in partnership with EEUK on 15 June 2016 at their Fusehill Street campus, Carlisle.
The event will focus on sharing best practice with regard to embedding enterprise in non-business curriculum areas and there will be the opportunity to share challenges, ideas and success stories along with gaining top tips from colleagues who are already achieving in this area.
High profile guest speakers from a range of universities will present the differing approaches that their institutions are taking to embed enterprise into the curriculum. In addition, conference delegates will also hear from graduate entrepreneurs who will share their experience of learning to be entrepreneurial, demonstrating the impact that their time at university had on their enterprise ambitions and subsequent achievements.
The UK government is keen for students to develop their enterprise skills as recently highlighted by Lord Young in ‘Enterprise for All’ who said, “I would like to see students of all subjects, from Archaeology to Zoology, have access to elective enterprise modules, as part of or alongside their degree programme, for this is knowledge that will serve them well whatever they decide to do in life”.
Sylvia Grainger - Student Enterprise Coordinator at the University of Cumbria said “It is great to be working with the team at Enterprise Educators UK, colleagues from other universities, local primary schools, our enterprising academics and our graduate entrepreneurs. There are a lot of exciting developments taking place and sharing and building on our collective success will lead to an enhanced student experience allowing them to develop skills which they will benefit from in their future careers.”
The event will also present the opportunity for delegates to meet and network with other enterprise educators.
