Flagship BBC Radio 4 programme Any Questions? heads to Carlisle
On Friday, 15 March 2019, BBC Radio 4’s Any Questions? will be broadcasting live from the Stanwix Theatre on the University of Cumbria’s Brampton Road campus in Carlisle.
The weekly programme – the station’s flagship political panel show – features a diverse panel of personalities and speakers who answer questions from an audience.
The show, chaired by Jonathan Dimbleby, attracts up to 1.5 million listeners every week. It broadcasts live from a different location each week and goes out just after BBC Radio 4’s 8pm news bulletin.
The programme provides the opportunity for people to challenge leading politicians, policy makers, writers and thinkers. Any Questions? was first broadcast in October 1948.
A limited number of free tickets for the event hosted by the university’s Institute of the Arts are available to members of the public on a first come, first served basis.
The return of the BBC to the university’s Institute of the Arts comes following the visit of Radio 4’s Gardeners’ Question Time twice last autumn and the staging of the North East and Cumbria’s ‘Pudsey Party’ during BBC Children in Need in November 2018.
University of Cumbria Professor of Practice Graeme Danby said: “If further proof was needed that the Stanwix Theatre is an excellent venue for Carlisle and the university, this is it – the return of another flagship radio programme in Any Questions? following Gardeners’ Question Time and our work for the hugely successful BBC Children in Need.”
