Foster innovation and stimulate growth with the University of Cumbria

Collaborations between academic institutions and businesses foster innovation and stimulate growth, and can have a whole host of other benefits for organisations.

At the recent Association for University Research and Industry Links (AURIL) conference, the Lambert toolkit was relaunched to help guide potential partners through the process of setting up collaborative projects, so there has never been a better time to read up!

Here at the University of Cumbria we have an array of opportunities for collaboration, and have helped many businesses to achieve their goals in all manner of areas, from delivering bespoke training to product development projects.

One of the many ways your business can work collaboratively with the University of Cumbria is through Knowledge Transfer Partnerships (KTP). A KTP involves working together to create a partnership between you and the university, enabling access to the knowledge, technology, skills and expertise held by our academics, professionals and technical specialists.

At the University of Cumbria, we feel KTPs are really about exchange rather than transfer - a flow of experience, skills and knowledge between the KTP partners.

KTPs can help businesses access highly qualified people to spearhead new projects, with many benefits including:

  • Working with experts who can help take your business forward
  • Developing innovative solutions to help your business grow
  • Developing your company for today‚Äôs market
  • Increasing your competitive advantage
  • Improving your performance/business operations
  • Increasing profitability

Here are some of our previous KTP case studies to give you a flavour of what's involved:

Carlisle Independent Retailers

Freshwater Biological Association

We've got a whole host of other knowledge and expertise to draw upon, and have used our resources to collaborate with businesses on many types of interesting projects, including:

  • Development of renewable technologies
  • Collaborations on health and social care projects
  • Projects on digital health technologies

We're always open to hearing about new and exciting projects or ideas for collaboration. This can be anything from research, to the development of a new product you're looking to bring to market.

If you're looking to find out more about how we can help your business, simply get in touch with us - our Business Development team are always happy to talk through a potential project with you.

The University of Cumbria is interested in hearing from businesses in this respect. If you would like to discuss this further, please contact enterprise.services@cumbria.ac.uk or call us on 01228 888740.
