Lisa to talk bushcraft skills in Oz
An expert in bush craft and survival techniques from the University of Cumbria is among speakers at a conference on the other side of the world.
Dr Lisa Fenton is preparing to attend the 8th International Adventure Therapy Conference in Sydney, Australia which begins next week. The event is hosted by the Australian Association for Bush Adventure Therapy (AABAT) and the 8th International Adventure Therapy Conference (8IATC) Local Organising Committee.
Entitled Bushcraft as a Therapeutic Connection to Nature Dr Fenton’s presentation will appear alongside others from academics drawn from across the globe. A regular contributor to the media in the UK on survival matters, Dr Fenton’s inclusion in the conference has been welcomed by outdoor colleagues based at the University of Cumbria’s Ambleside campus.
“This event will consider what contributions outdoor experts can make to improve living conditions and environments around the globe,” Dr Liz Mallabon, principal lecturer in outdoor studies, said. “Doubtless the knowledge that Lisa will absorb during her time at the conference will prove invaluable to our students in the coming year here at Ambleside.”
