University chief makes top northern female power list
A female leader from the University of Cumbria has made the Northern Power Women 2019 Power List.
Jackie Arnold MBE, Pro-Vice Chancellor for Region and Employer Engagement at the University of Cumbria has won a place on the highly desirable and respected list.
The Power List recognises influencers who use their professional clout for good. Challenging the norm and ensuring that everyone recognises the benefits of gender-balanced organisations.
The list is compiled through a process of open nomination and selection by a panel of judges.
The first list of 50 figures was launched at the Northern Power Women awards in March 2016 as a way of ensuring women’s achievements were recognised in relation to the Northern Powerhouse.
This year, the organisers are again expanding the list to continue to shine a spotlight on the amazing role models and change-makers the north has, while raising aspirations and inspiring future generations to succeed at the highest levels.
Speaking about making the influential list, Jackie Arnold said:
“I am delighted to have been selected. Having worked in Cumbria and the North West region over the last few years, I have met so many talented individuals, driving the agenda for change and diversity.
“We are making huge progress but there remain challenges for us to transform the collective business representation landscape to reflect this diversity and, as a group, I’m confident that we will work tirelessly to continue the success to date.”
Currently, Jackie oversees business growth and strategic partnerships for the University of Cumbria. A highly demanding and influential role that ensures the university provides the necessarily-trained graduates required to boost the regional economy.
Prior to this, Jackie worked for BAE Systems Submarines and was responsible for the corporate responsibility agenda.
She is also vice chair of Cumbria Local Enterprise Partnership, a member of the North West Business leadership team, a non-executive director of the Cumberland Building Society and executive in residence at Lancaster University.
Jackie holds an outstanding track record in industry, a passionate belief in the region and a desire to ensure the growth of the Cumbrian business economy, creating new opportunities for generations to come.
