First day at university for tomorrow’s teachers

Aspiring teachers have flocked in their hundreds to start their training with the University of Cumbria. As millions of schoolchildren return to classes this week, around 700 students have arrived on the university’s campuses in Lancaster, Carlisle and London to register on courses to further their own education and development.

New term for tomorrow’s teachers

Aspiring teachers have started their studies with University of Cumbria. In line with latest coronavirus guidance, many of the mature students are enjoying face-to-face sessions with tutors on campus while the university’s annual induction programme for them has moved largely online Reflecting a national upturn, it comes as University of Cumbria has witnessed an increase of almost 14 per cent in the number of teacher training applications it has received so far this year.

National Apprenticeship Week 2021: University partnership helping police train new recruits

A national effort to recruit 20,000 additional police officers by 2023 is being supported by the University of Cumbria and a special public sector partnership. University of Cumbria and three other institutions are delivering Police Constable Degree Apprenticeships and Degree Holder Entry Programmes to new recruits joining three forces across south east England – Surrey, Sussex and Hampshire.

Cumbria’s university welcomes its first police constable degree apprentices

Forty-eight new recruits have started as University of Cumbria students as part of an innovative Police Constable Degree Apprenticeship programme. The student police officers and subsequent cohorts are receiving face-to-face masterclasses, practical skills training and supported online learning. University of Cumbria’s first student police officers are based with Surrey Police and they are part of a wider scheme that will educate more than 1,000 new recruits over the next three years.

More than 30 University of Cumbria final year Early Years, Primary and Secondary teacher training students are running a daily service for any parent or carer seeking help, advice or fresh ideas on how to make learning fun and meaningful for their children. The Homeschooling Support scheme is free and can be found on Facebook.
