Why study with us?

Do you want to have a hand in keeping sports people in tip top condition? As a sports therapist or rehabilitator, you can have an integral part in helping athletes get back on their feet after an injury or showing people how to enhance their performance levels safely and effectively, from average joggers to professional footballers.

The Sport Rehabilitation degree focuses on guiding people to return to or maintain safe involvement in sport and exercise. It is built around a blend of theoretical understanding and the development of practical competencies and applications, which is aligned to the British Association of Sport Rehabilitators and Trainers (BASRaT). You’ll have the opportunity to gain additional vocational qualifications as well as applying your knowledge in real life situations on placement.

We have a range of highly-qualified practitioners, including sports rehabilitators, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, psychologists and sport scientists, eager to share their expertise with our students, so you will be in the best hands.

What can this course lead to?

Sport Rehabilitators are in high demand in the exercise and fitness industry. A degree in Sport Rehabilitation can lead to eligibility for membership of BASRaT as a Graduate Sport Rehabilitator. The professional body is further accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA) which enables employment prospects within the NHS.

Other employment opportunities exist in GP referral programmes, therapeutic work with sport clubs, teams and individual performers, private sports injury clinics or in consultancy.

Resources and facilities

Sport Rehabilitation students have access to the physiological and biomechanical equipment in our Physiotherapy and Sport Laboratory, for exercise and fitness testing, and injury screening.

We also have a sports centre which boasts a large, multi-purpose sports hall and an air conditioned fitness suite with 12 cardiovascular stations, eight fixed weight stations and a free weights area. The facility is run by Register of Exercise Professionals accredited staff.

Sports injury clinic

Our Sports Injury Clinic, organised by staff from the sport rehabilitation degree, gives our students a brilliant opportunity to practice their skills with real clients.

Open to staff, students and members of the public, this free service provides students with a real life environment for learning.
