Health, mental health and wellbeing
The university offers confidential support and advice in a number of ways:
-
Information on how to access services provided by NHS and Social Services
-
Support for disabled students including some aspects of mental health
-
Counselling and therapy service
-
Information for staff and students
The Counselling, Health and Wellbeing team has produced a short leaflet on how to respond to a student in emotional distress or a mental health crisis. Although primarily aimed as a guide for staff, this could also be useful to students who may be concerned about a friend or peer. Please note, staff who are having problems with health, mental health or wellbeing should contact Occupational Health.
Counselling and Therapy Service
Staffed by qualified and trainee Counsellors and Therapists; available to students, offering appointments to individuals Monday - Friday. Appointments are available at various times and on various days at each campus, with some evening appointments. Workshops and Group Sessions are run at various times throughout the year (for more information, see LISS information areas at your campus or visit our counselling webpage).
