Have you considered becoming a teacher or pursuing a career in education? The Institute of Education at the University of Cumbria is one of the most successful in the UK. 97% of graduates go into employment or further study within 15 months of graduating (HESA, 2023).

You could become a teacher in just nine months with a PGCE from the University of Cumbria

A PGCE is a one-year postgraduate course, equivalent to 60 credits of a master’s degree which leads to qualified teacher status (QTS). You'll attend lectures and seminars at the university, then put that theory into practice in school placements. a Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) prepares you to teach your subject in a classroom. Moreover, as the PGCE programme includes Qualified Teacher Status (QTS), you will apply for your first teaching position whilst studying with us.

Teaching is an amazing career, from great job and progression prospects to the power to inspire a whole generation, very few careers will offer you the sense of personal pride and satisfaction that teaching can.

If you are passionate about making a difference and effecting positive change in the lives of others, then teaching may be the career for you.
