This programme is designed to further develop Business Change Management professionals as effective and reflective practitioners, to enable them to apply and embed their learning from industry-based CPD training activity in the workplace and to develop their ability to synthesise and evaluate this through reflection and the mutual transfer of learning between the academy and workplace.
The course was developed in consultation with Aspire Europe and the Centre For Change Management, who will provide a programme of underpinning CPD and the assessment of competence. This activity will provide the underpinning activity which will then be applied and evaluated as a Higher Education programme and related assessment. Aspire Europe and C4CM™ have an international reputation for delivering CPD courses in Programme and Business Change Management and the combination of their experience and reputation with the University award is a ground-breaking offer in this growing area.

Course summary
The Graduate Certificates in Applied Programme Management and in Applied Business Change Management are two linked programmes for Programme Managers and Business Change Managers, which have been developed as a direct response to requests from employers who have identified that, whilst they currently provide a significant amount of CPD training for their staff, there is a gap in the provision of education and training for Business Change Managers at Higher Education level.
While existing CPD is effective and high quality, it is not accredited nor developed to meet the wider educational needs of businesses. These University of Cumbria programmes allow students to undertake parallel CPD and HE courses, and for the CPD delivery of the relevant professional knowledge and competence to be applied and evaluated as a Higher Education programme with related assessment.
This development is being jointly undertaken with specialist Programme Management providers: Aspire Europe and the Centre for Change Management.
These providers will provide underpinning CPD and the assessment of competence, which will be a requirement for completion of the Higher Education programme and assessment. Aspire Europe have an international reputation for delivering CPD courses in Programme and Business Change Management and the combination of their experience and reputation with the University award is a ground-breaking offer in this growing area. The Aspire Europe work as lead authors of Managing Successful Programmes MSP® over the last 15 years has put them at the forefront of thought leadership in this field.
Aspire Europe have also led the developing of the Portfolio, Programme and Project Management Maturity Model (P3M3®) that measures organisational maturity and performance which will enable us to draw on their research and insight as part of our services to clients. This partnership has enabled the University of Cumbria to create a new HE credit bearing award combined with the acquisition of professionally recognised qualifications.
The programmes are at Undergraduate Honours level (L6) as most practitioners in these areas are graduates in other subject areas and it has been developed as a Graduate Certificate to allow an extension to your learning at this level, enhancing your effectiveness as a practitioner in the delivery of true business benefits according to the corporate strategy, and also to value and recognise the role of the continuous professional development training already provides to you in your role.
