The policing team look forward to starting your Professional Policing course with you in September. The wealth of employment opportunities within Policing are illustrated through employment advertisements which regularly feature on our University of Cumbria: Policing Facebook pages.
To arrive at this point you will have experienced studying at University. This course aims to build on that experience. Whilst the top up course does not feature a formal induction week, we will ensure you are comfortable with all aspects of studying and engagement with the course material, whether your mode of study is distance learning, part or full time.

I hope you all take the opportunity to enjoy your summer in preparation for University.
All students have access to the ‘Headstart’ programme. This is a short on-line module which provides guidance on your future study and how to obtain the best results possible from your time at University. I would recommend spending a short time on this module. If you have already completed the programme it may be worth considering using the content to prepare for third year study. Nearly 100% of future students completing the module stated they were more confident and would recommend Headstart.
The University library contains a wealth of relevant books and journals. The media always contains police related stories, aim to keep up to date with Police related issues. Headstart will equip you with skills to start analysing material.
