Workington is an ancient market and industrial town with plenty of entertainment and shopping facilities to satisfy all tastes. You’ll enjoy a quiet area ideal for focusing on your studies.
Our Workington courses take place in the Energus Building, which has a fantastic range of top-of-the-line facilities to help manage the nuclear graduates programme. It was purpose-built to provide a great space for professional training and development. With nuclear back on the government agenda, there has never been a better time to study in a dedicated training building.

Workington is an ancient market and industrial town with a number of historical churches and buildings to explore, including Our Lady and St Michael’s Church, the Helena Thompson Museum and Workington Hall. The latter is built around one of approximately 90 Pele Towers (built during the reign of Edward I to historically protect England against the Scots). This particular tower gave shelter to Mary Queen of Scots on her last flight from Scotland before her imprisonment and execution.
You’ll be well placed for a visit to the Lake District, as well as popular tourist towns including Keswick and Whitehaven. Being placed on the M6 gives you ready access to the North West, allowing you to easily visit Carlisle, Lancaster, Preston, Manchester and Liverpool.
If you find yourself peckish between lessons, then there is an on-site cafe providing freshly-made food in a bright and modern space.
Fancy a great meal? Then the Royal Yew in the nearby village of Dean is the perfect place to go. It’s a traditional country pub and restaurant boasting local produce and a seasonally changing menu, ensuring fresh ingredients made into delicious meals.
Our Radiation Protection programmes won the Nuclear Training Award in 2014.
