My area of specialism is Primary science and I teach this and the applied science of Design Technology at the University. I believe that nobody is born good at science, or maths, or music and so quality expriences guided by a knowledgeable and skilled teacher is essential.  Many students find that their training is an opportunity to rediscover subjects such as science in a more postive and empowering way.
