Biography

Corina Downing is a seasoned paramedic with over two decades of experience; she is dedicated to shaping the future of paramedic education through apprenticeships. 

With an NHS career spanning back to 2000, Corina has been at the forefront of emergency medical care, embodying the values of compassion, skill, and innovation. In addition to her extensive practical experience, Corina has pursued continuous professional development, earning an NHS Mary Seacole Leadership award, Postgraduate Certificate in Health Sciences, and a Postgraduate Certificate in Higher Education. These qualifications not only enhance her clinical proficiency but also equip her with the pedagogical skills necessary for educating the next generation of paramedics. 

Corina's dedication to education extends beyond the classroom. As a Teaching Fellow, she is deeply committed to enhancing the quality of teaching and learning in paramedic education. She has a proven track record of engagement with professional bodies and external boards, with a background as a Clinical Education Manager for ambulance apprenticeships, as a Teaching Fellow at another esteemed institution, she excelled in cultivating dynamic learning environments. Her 4 year tenure as a CQC Specialist Advisor underscored her commitment to upholding quality and safety standards in ambulance services, from private providers to major institutions like the London Ambulance Service and East Anglian Air Ambulance. Corina combines practical expertise, educational innovation, and regulatory insight to shape the future of paramedic education and enhance patient care standards. ensuring that her teaching remains relevant and responsive to industry needs.  

Currently, Corina is pursuing a master’s in professional Practice, further deepening her understanding of the complex issues facing modern healthcare practitioners. Corina’s research interests include exploring health disparities, equality, and diversity, soft skills development, enriching the educational experience for learner, and the broader mission of improving healthcare outcomes for all.
