Biography

I joined the Primary Mathematics Team in the University's Institute of Education, having spent the earlier part of my career teaching in primary schools, where I specialised in supporting student teachers on placement. Currently I teach primary mathematics on both undergraduate and postgraduate courses, as well as having personal tutor and cohort leader roles. I am also joint Programme Leader for the QTS Direct Assessment Only Route.

Qualifications and memberships

BA(Hons), PGCE in Primary Education, PGC in Academic Practice, Fellow of the HEA. MA (Education).

Academic and research interests

My key area of interest is primary mathematics education, with a particular focus on mathematical problem solving and the use of concrete resources, models and representations to develop conceptual understanding.
