Biography

I have twenty years experience working within an inpatient forensic learning disability psychology unit. working with adults both male and female. with a keen interest in personality disorder.  I found myself leading on a 12 bed womens ward and becoming a trainer for the “knowledge and understanding framework for personality disorder”; I did this for 5 years.

In 2015 I took an opportunity to further expand my skills and joined the physical health team, there I stayed, up until leaving to join the University of Cumbria. While in the health centre/physical health team I took the lead on, and delivered the diabetes education programme, working alongside the gp to reach and educate patients, and staff in diabetes awareness, working on some very complex cases. Staff training on the physical health and wellbeing of our patient population was a priority for me.

I thoroughly enjoyed becoming a student nurse mentor and in 2,018 i was a finalist in nurse mentor of the year for Nursing Times.
