Biography

I have worked for the University of Cumbria in the role of Senior Lecturer in Paramedic Apprenticeships EEAST since February 2022 and have supported the continued developments of the programme.

My specific workstreams include leading on practice placement within the EEAST (East of England Ambulance Service NHS Trust) paramedic apprenticeship programme. This involves ensuring that all learners are supported in the practice placement environment, working alongside and supporting PEds, operational management teams and the EEAST education management team. I monitor supervised hours and ensure ESFA and apprenticeship standard requirements.

I also oversee the apprentice paramedic recruitment process within EEAST and have headed a working group which redesigned the recruitment process, with a focus on enhancing inclusivity. This was well received at pilot and has now been implemented across all six partner trusts within the programme.

I remain actively engaged in delivery and assessment, including curriculum design, module leadership and internal moderation activities.

Prior to working for the university, I was employed by East of England Ambulance Service as an Education and Training Officer. leading a variety of apprenticeship programmes, student paramedic courses, and level three training courses. I am also a registered paramedic with the HCPC.

I am newly appointed as the External Examiner for the University of Suffolk BSc (Hons) Paramedic Science, due to begin duties in September 2024. I am also currently working towards an MA in Education and Professionalism and a Senior Fellowship in Higher Education.
