Biography

Steph joined the University of Cumbria in September 2024. She is a Lecturer on the FdSc Assistant Practitioner (Health) programme at the University of Cumbria, where she is currently pursuing a Postgraduate Certificate in Academic Practice to further enhance her teaching and academic development. Holding a First Class BSc (Hons) in Diagnostic Radiography from the University of Salford, Steph brings a strong foundation in clinical radiography alongside a growing academic portfolio.

Before joining the University of Cumbria, Steph supported diagnostic imaging teams at Wrightington, Wigan and Leigh NHS Foundation Trust. There, she gained hands-on experience across a range of modalities, including projectional radiography and DEXA scanning, contributing to high-quality patient care within busy NHS departments.

In her current academic role, Steph plays an active part in programme delivery, leading lectures, tutorials, and practical sessions for Assistant Practitioner Apprenticeship students. She is passionate about developing the next generation of healthcare professionals, blending her clinical expertise with a student-centred approach to teaching and learning.

Outside of teaching, Steph contributes to the wider profession through committee work. She currently serves as the North West Society of Radiographers Committee Secretary for the Society and College of Radiographers — a role that reflects her commitment to professional development, advocacy, and collaboration within the radiographic community.

Steph is also experienced in guest speaking and wider professional engagement, regularly contributing to educational events focused on health promotion in radiography. Her work is driven by a strong dedication to advancing healthcare education and supporting both students and colleagues in achieving excellence.
