Biography

Tyler is a HCPC registered Paramedic working within the Centre of Excellence in Paramedic Practice as a Senior Lecturer in Paramedic Apprenticeships. 

Tyler is the Level 5 programme leader for the apprenticeship delivery to the London Ambulance Service, and also leads on the recruitment and admission processes for the team. 

Previously he has worked as a Paramedic with the London Ambulance Service NHS Trust, where he has worked on double crewed ambulances and solo response vehicles. He has undertaken many different roles as well, to help broaden his scope of practice and experience. Of note, Tyler was part of the team that created the Mental Health response unit within the London Ambulance Service, an emergency resourced staffed by a paramedic and mental health nurse that would attend patients having a mental health crisis that have contacted 999. Tyler then had taken the role of clinical lecturer with the apprenticeship provision in 2021, and has been in his current role since 2022.

Academic and research interests

Tyler is interested in paramedic identity, particularly the transition from practitioner to educator and the challenges this brings. He is also interested in primary and urgent care, and how the role of the paramedic is transitioning in this area of healthcare.
