When you are out on placement, on an Institute of Health course you are representing the University of Cumbria, and we want you to feel confident and professional in every setting.
Students working in practice areas where a uniform is required must wear the university provided uniform, unless the placement provider (e.g. department or Trust) has a different dress policy. In those cases, please follow the dress code as advised by the placement area.
Students do not need to wear a uniform but are expected to dress smart casual. While some placements may be more relaxed about things like body piercings or visible tattoos, it’s important to respect the policies of your placement agency and consider personal safety when it comes to piercings or accessories.
If you're studying one of the following programmes, you’ll need to purchase specific items before your placement begins. These costs are your responsibility:

If you need extra uniform items during your course, you can order them, but please note that additional uniforms must be paid for by the student. The only exception are in cases of maternity wear, which the university will cover.

If you need to exchange your uniform for a different size, you have 14 days from the date of delivery. Please include the correct paperwork with your return.
