ABOUT OUR SCHOOL

The Pennine Lancashire Alliance, working in partnership with the University of Cumbria, consists of a diverse range of secondary schools across East Lancashire, committed to providing high quality teacher training. Led by Haslingden High School, an 11-18 outstanding comprehensive, our network of schools collaborate to facilitate innovative teaching and learning, and to develop the next generation of outstanding teachers.

Trainees will work alongside excellent classroom practitioners and will be guided by experienced mentors in a friendly, supportive environment. Placements will be organised in two contrasting schools within the alliance. There will also be opportunities to gain further experience in other partner schools and settings as we enjoy close links with primary schools, pupil referral units and special schools.

Most of the course content will be delivered by expert teachers in our partner schools. In addition there will be visits to the University of Cumbria (Lancaster campus) for assignment support and subject pedagogy days.

*Accreditation for the award of Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) for September 2025 entry is through the University of Warwick. From September 2026, all students will receive both their professional QTS qualification and their academic qualification from the University of Cumbria.
