Creating a Space to Showcase Creativity
Opened by globally acclaimed artist and former student Conrad Atkinson, our Vallum Gallery is home to a number of in-house and external exhibitions each year.
In 2019, the Gallery and its Degree Show, which showcases the final work of our BA Hons students every year, were also Finalists for Art or Cultural Initiative of the Year at the Carlisle Living Award.
If you would like to discuss hosting an exhibition in the Vallum Gallery, please contact Gallery Curator Laura Baxter.
In response to the latest Government advice with regards to the threat of the Coronavirus (COVID-19), the University of Cumbria is temporarily closing the Vallum Gallery to the public as of today, Thursday 19 March, until we are advised we can reopen.
We are postponing the upcoming exhibitions of ‘now-here’ somewhere-nowhere; the Foundation Art & Design Exhibition; The Degree Show 2020; and Behind the Scenes of the ‘Life of a Mountain’ Documentary Series.
We will be in touch once we have been advised it is safe to reopen. Updates will be posted on our social media sites and the university website.
Thank you to all our audiences and local community for your continued support. We wish you all well at this uncertain time.
