Ali Tomkins

Biography

A passionate ambassador that all learners can achieve to the best of their ability, I have had the privilege of teaching and supporting learners of all ages.  Starting out as a Music teacher my career gave me the opportunities to support students as a form tutor and careers advisor within school environments.  I then followed my father's footsteps and moved into Further Education, supporting learners in apprenticeships. I found my teaching skills, pastoral experience and careers experience pulled together into supporting adult learners of all ages many of whom had very successful careers, but no relevant qualifications.  I supported learners on five different programmes including coaching professionals, team leader and operational managers - their successful completions (many with distinctions) has been a real joy.  I joined UoC as the Apprentice Link Tutor for Forestry in November 2025 and I am really looking forward to supporting learners on their apprenticeship journey.
