Biography

As Pro Vice-Chancellor for Education at Keele University from July 2021 to
September 2025, Kristyan has led the institution’s strategic approach to
education and the student experience. Prior to taking up her position at
Keele, she held senior positions at a range of institutions, namely at the
Universities of Liverpool, Reading and Winchester. In addition, she has
wide experience of the sector through work with the Quality Assurance Agency,
Advance HE, and subject area associations in modern languages
and linguistics.
Over several decades she has led on transforming the educational experience through inspiring curriculum design, teaching and assessment practice, and excellent learning environment. Among Institutional initiatives she has driven, projects on educational gains, academic skills development, transition into and through learning, student engagement in research, and innovative interdisciplinary experiences have been particularly impactful.
She was awarded a National Teaching Fellowship in 2011 and is a Principal Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (Advance HE). In 2022-23 she served with the Office for Students (OfS) as a Teaching Excellence Framework panel member. Outside the sector she is a Trustee of a Multi Academy Trust in Staffordshire.
