Biography

I qualified from the University of Cumbria as a Diagnostic Radiographer in 2012.

During my clinical practice within the NHS, I gained experience in many aspects of radiography, including C.T. I eventually specialised in breast imaging. I completed my postgraduate studies in mammography at the University of Salford, qualifying in 2016. I then worked as a Specialist Radiographer until 2022. During the height of the Covid-19 pandemic, I joined the Covid Research Group for my trust, and collected data for the RECOVERY trial. This trial was later responsible for proving the drug dexamethasone was successful in reducing symptoms and mortality rates in covid positive patients.

I joined the Medical Sciences team in September 2022. On the undergraduate degree course, I mainly teach practical clinical skills, radiographic anatomy as well as assisting with mammography lectures. I am currently the module leader for the Level 4 module 'Applied Clinical Radiography 1'.

I am also involved with our apprenticeship programmes, and I teach on both the Bridging Assistant Practitioner course, and the Radiography top-up degree programme. I also lead on the Level 6 module 'Preparing for Professional Practice- The Radiographer in the Wider Context of Healthcare' on the top-up apprenticeship degree programme.

As part of my academic role, I am also Assistant Placement Academic Lead. This role involves acting as deputy for the Placement Academic Lead and overseeing the clinical placement aspects of the undergraduate degree course.

My main research interests continue to be patient care and communication, mammography, promotion of the profession, and the history of radiology.
