Biography

Before joining the University of Cumbria in January 2022, I was a senior lecturer in paramedic science and a programme lead for the BSc (Hons) Paramedic Science at the University of Worcester. I registered as a paramedic in 2002 and have 18 years’ experience working within an Ambulance Service in a variety of roles, such as Clinical Team Mentor, Advanced Paramedic and Practice Educator. I am a fellow of the Higher Education Academy and am currently Principal Lecturer for the SCAS and SWAST apprenticeship provision. My research interests are human factors in paramedic practice, mental health and suicide awareness and prevention. I am one of the co-authors of a recently published book ‘An Introduction to Mental Health for Paramedic Science’, which explores how mental health problems impact on the individual in the context of emergency medicine.
