Celebrating New Book on Beatrix Potter by University of Cumbria Academic

An A-Z of Beatrix Potter An A-Z of Beatrix Potter: : Penny Bradshaw: Bloomsbury Academic - Bloomsbury by Cultural Landscapes theme lead, Dr Penny Bradshaw, was published in January in this, the 160th anniversary year of Potter’s birth.

In a sell-out book launch event hosted by University of Cumbria's Centre for National Parks & Protected Areas, we welcomed 80 patrons to our Ambleside campus on 10 January 2026 for an illustrated talk by the author, book sales, book signing, and an 'in conversation' session among Dr Penny Bradshaw, James Stephens, Head of Library Services, and audience members. All in all, a convivial event with much insight into the fascinating life and mind of Beatrix Potter.

Dr Bradshaw has also curated a book-tie in exhibition at The Armitt which opened to the public in February and runs until December 2026. Exhibition details here: An A-Z of Beatrix Potter | ARMITT MUSEUM AND LIBRARY. The exhibition features over 100 objects, including rarely seen Beatrix Potter manuscripts and drawings from major archives in the UK and elsewhere.

Dr Bradshaw has appeared at Lancaster Litfest and Words by the Water in Keswick and she will speak about the book at The Lake District Book Festival 12-14 June in Cartmel.
