The Wordsworth Way - walking route and guidebook

The Wordsworth Way - walking route and guidebook

In April 2025 we celebrated the launch of a literary walking route, The Wordsworth Way, and publication of the trail’s official guidebook.

The guidebook was written by Jade Cookson, who graduated from the University of Cumbria’s MA Literature, Romanticism and the Lake District in 2024 and who had begun work on the guide as part of an assessed project on her MA.

The walking trail was proposed by Friends of the Ullswater Way and then developed in collaboration with a range of partners, including University of Cumbria, Wordsworth Grasmere, the Lake District National Park and Cumbria Tourism.

The Wordsworth Way begins on the shores of Ullswater at Glenridding and finishes at the University of Cumbria’s Ambleside campus, the cultural and literary heritage of the latter being celebrated in the guidebook.
