How to provide your Right to Work Evidence
Digital Right to Work ID Check (Must have a current UK Address)
If you hold a valid and in-date UK/Irish Passport and have a current UK address, you may be eligible to complete a Digital Right to Work ID Check.
The Digital ID check will be done within the DBS application itself. When you initiate your DBS application online, you will be asked a series of questions which will determine if you are eligible for a Digital ID check.
If you are eligible, you will be given a QR code to download the Atlantic Data Digital ID App. The App will ask for your consent to carry out a Digital ID Check for both the DBS application and for the Right to Work check. Once in the App you will follow the steps below:
1. Using your phone’s camera, you will take a picture of your Passport. You will then need to lay your phone on top of your Passport, this will allow the App to scan the chip in your Passport.
2. The App will then carry out a ‘liveness check’ where you take a photo of yourself within the on-screen frame to confirm your identity.
3. You will then enter in your current UK address details.
4. You must make sure to read and accept the declaration before you submit your Digital ID.
5. The App will confirm once both your ID details have been checked and will confirm if your Digital ID has been issued. You will need to share the Digital ID result with your DBS application.
6. To share the Digital ID result, you need to be logged into the DBS application (preferably on a laptop/computer.
7. Scan the QR code that is displayed within the DBS application. This will take you to the Atlantic Data Digital ID App. Click the blue ‘Share’ button on the successful Digital ID profile.
8. The App will then carry out a ‘liveness check’ where you take a photo of yourself within the on-screen frame to confirm your identity. Once this has been done, click the blue ‘Continue’ button.
9. The App will confirm that your Digital ID has been shared, you should then return to the DBS application to confirm your details and to complete the remainder of the online DBS application form.
Please Note: To complete your registration on course, we must see your original Right to Work ID document(s) in-person. Please ensure you bring your original UK/Irish Passport with you to your registration session in Welcome Week. Your registration status will be affected by any outstanding admissions conditions, and this will prevent the release of your student loan.
Documentary evidence in person
If you are unable to, or choose not to, do a Digital ID check as part of the DBS application then we will need to see your original Right to Work ID document(s) in-person. Please arrange an appointment with the DBS Team before you take these into your nearest University of Cumbria campus to the following locations:
- Lancaster Campus - Student Enquiry Point (StEP Desk) based in the Library.
- Carlisle Fusehill Street campus – Student Enquiry Point (StEP Desk) based in the Learning Gateway.
- Ambleside Campus - Student Enquiry Point (StEP Desk) based in The Barn.
